Humpback whales are peaceful creatures. Let's just get that out of the way right now. But they are also massive creatures, and when these kayakers wandered into a feeding zone just off of Moss Landing in Monterey, California, they nearly paid the ultimate price. Obviously the whale had no idea what was happening here (you know, because it's a whale), but as human beings with a theoretical capacity for logic, we should take this as lesson to give these 40-ton seabeasts a wider berth when joining them at the proverbial dinner table.
