Daigo Saito

Want the recipe to the best drift video of the year? Add one part Vaughn Gittin Jr., one part Daigo Saito, dash with a 550 hp V-8 Mustang RTR and a drift-ready Lamborghini, then throw them in a tire smoker overnight. In the morning, remove the mixture, fly it to Japan, and unleash it on an abandoned Russian village, and let the heat of the pistons do the rest. Pretty impressive, right? Needless to say, Ken Block's Gymkhana 8 now has its work cut out for it.

With a 61-point lead, Saito could put the championship out of reach this weekend.
The fifth round of the Formula Drift series takes place this weekend at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington. Located just outside of Seattle, the event will play a big role in determining the eventual 2013 Formula D champion. Daigo Saito has a commanding 61-point lead over Vaughn Gittin Jr., but Gittin won the event at Evergreen last year. A repeat victory by Gittin would keep the points race tight. But if Saito tops the podium he could all but seal up the 2013 title.

"If you're going to lose, rip someone's door off."
One of the highlights from last week's Formula Drift stop at Wall Speedway in New Jersey was the third place battle between Chris Forsberg and Darren McNamara. The two drifters collided on a right-hand turn and Forsberg's passenger side door was ripped off his car. Off Track's Jarrod DeAnda asked both drivers about the crash after the event. Forsberg actually didn't even realize he'd lost his door until he came into the next turn and saw all this light streaming into his car.
