Breakdancing

Leave it to Germany to invent firework breakdancing

OK, breakdancing is SO 1992. We get that. But this crazy Frankfurt-based dance crew has truly upped the ante, unleashing all the classic staples–hand hops, air flares, headspins–with exploding fireworks strapped to their feet. The result is even crazier than it sounds, with a spiraling array of red and green pyrotechnics making this the only breakdance video you need to watch all year. Stay tuned all the way until the end and you'll even get treated to the requisite dude-with-cornrows-hyping-himself-to-the-camera. Whatever you do, don't say we didn't warn you.

Asphalt NYC: Homeless breakdancer Slex has amazing outlook on life

Having recently been thrown out of his mom's house, breakdancer Manuel "Slex" Echevarria bounces around from one friend's house to another. But he mostly sleeps on the trains, the same trains he breakdances on. Being a B-Boy is definitely not an easy life. There's little money in it and bills keep coming in. But Echevarria has such a passion for what he does that none of that affects his positive outlook on life.

May 3 was the third-annual MCA Day, celebrating the life of the late Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch. To kick off the event, a group of Buddhist monks descended on Union Square in New York City and breakdanced to the Beastie Boys' "Ch-Check It Out." It was awesome.

Yauch (aka MCA), who died of cancer on May 4, 2012, was a devout Buddhist himself and worked tirelessly to advance the cause of Tibetan independence.
