Christian Hosoi

Boston has had plenty of snow this winter (PLENTY). So the Signal Snowboards crew decided to get into a little throwback vibes and hit up Boston.

On this episode of Every Third Thursday, Dave Lee and the crew team up with longtime skateboard designer Paul Schmitt to create the ultimate backyard, back hill, neighborhood golf course fun board—we’re calling it Mr. Fun. Dave finds legendary skateboarder Christian Hosoi’s pro model shape in Professor Schmitt’s workshop, which serves as the foundation for this 7-ply deck. Hosoi himself stops by the factory to add some crucial design input to the Hammerhead-esque shape (kinda like the surfboard he made of it). Mr. Fun gets a custom Hosoi grip tape job and then it’s off to the streets of Boston for the historic amounts of snow to see if Mr. Fun delivers on the promise of fun.

See this simple board take on snowy streets, parks and everyday urban features with no lift ticket (and no bindings) required. Does this look like fun to you? Let us know in the comments below!

Skateboard legend Christian Hosoi made a surprise appearance at Skate Night at the House of Vans in Brooklyn, NY this week. While he was there he linked with Tim to talk about skateboarding's return to its roots before serving up his three favorite skate tricks in the pool. Watch and learn!

When you're Chris Cote, editor of Transworld Surf, there's lots of perks that come withe job. Being able to travel to the world's best surf destinations, singing Doobie Brothers' songs with Kelly Slater. Now you can add judging the I Love Poke Festival alongside legendary skateboarder Christian Hosoi and longboarder/jiu-jitsu champ Joel Tudor to the list. For those that aren't foodies or students of Hawaiian culture, poke is a salad consisting of sashimi tuna and assorted other ingredients. Cote, Hosoi, and Tudor get their fill and also get to witness some amazing dancing.

Snapbacks and speakers and skateboards. Oh my!
Tim Brodhagen and the dose crew rolled through the Agenda NYC tradeshow to get a sneak peek at the upcoming apparel and gear from the top brands in action sports and streetwear. It wasn't easy, but Timbo managed to select his five favorite items, which included products from Mighty Helathy, Beats by Dre, Burton Snowboards, Penny Skateboards and more.

Now that's metal.
As part of Metallica's Orion festival in Detroit, Vans set up a vert ramp for its skate team. The festival featured performances by James, Lars and Kurt plus the Red Hot Chili Peppers and others. Christian Hosoi and Steve Caballero were on hand for the skate demo and aside from riding the vert ramp and checking out the music, the veteran skaters also had the opportunity to take some Segways for a spin. Hosoi also showed off his skills with a slingshot and got Cab to do some push-ups.
