Pool Skating

It's easy when you can do 1080s.
In the second episode Full Rotation, 13-year-old skateboarder talks about his first time dropping in on a vert ramp. Bucky Lasek challenged Schaar to do it and the first time he tried, he fell straight to his face. That didn't stop Schaar who eventually had a vert ramp built in his backyard. While Schaar is best known for being the first skater to land a 1080, he is more than a megaramp skater. Schaar is equally skilled on mini ramps, vert ramps, and pools. He can even do a 540 on one of those plastic cruiser skateboards.

Skateboard legend Christian Hosoi made a surprise appearance at Skate Night at the House of Vans in Brooklyn, NY this week. While he was there he linked with Tim to talk about skateboarding's return to its roots before serving up his three favorite skate tricks in the pool. Watch and learn!

Burnquist's chopper isn't just for railslides on MegaRamps.
Bob Burnquist is back in a big way. He dropped a full length video part last week that was packed with "never been done" tricks, including many that featured a helicopter (yes, a helicopter). Now the latest episode of his Dreamland series shows Burnquist using the same helicopter to scout for backyard pools to skate. Burnquist takes legend Lance Mountain along for the ride as they go up in the whirlybird to find skateable pools from the sky. Then they take the GPS coordinates to go back and locate the pools on the ground.

You can run from a bear.
Lance Mountain is one of those skaters who has just always been cool. Going back to his Bones Brigade days when he was the goofball who made skating fun to today where he is the elder statesman who still rips. As part of Independent Trucks' 5&5 video series, Mountain answered five questions and did five tricks. The questions ranged from whether he'd rather fight a bear or a shark (a bear) to the tricks he wish he could do (kickflip back-anything down a handrail).

Dustin Dollin pays a visit to the 2011 Skater of the Year.
For the premier episode of his new series, "Gettin' Dusted," Dustin Dollin went to see his Volcom teammate Grant Taylor. The series is definitely lo-fi, with Dollin recording on what appears to be a Playskool My First Camcorder. It's also a little weird seeing Dollin film Taylor getting dressed. But watching Taylor rip on a bunch of different transitions—from his DIY backyard bowl to a skatepark to a spot under an overpass where we imagine hermits live—makes it all worth it.
